The human resources and social security bureau of Gangzha district held an annual entrepreneurship event at the local 1895 Cultural and Creative Industry Park on Aug 8.

The annual event in Gangzha district includes visits to various entrepreneurial demonstration centers in the region, college student entrepreneurship competitions, internships and job fairs at local industrial parks, and entrepreneurship camps for college students.

The event aims to show Gangzha-born undergraduates the development trajectory of their hometown and encourage more young people become entrepreneurs.

Nearly 50 Gangzha-born undergraduates were invited to this year's event to listen to professional lectures on entrepreneurship policies, make Banyao whistling kites, visit a national industrial town in Tangzha, and fly drones.

For years, Gangzha district has been implementing preferential policies targeting startups and developing entrepreneurship incubators to give more urban and rural entrepreneurs, including university students, the chance to realize their dreams without leaving their hometown.

Gangzha has established a district-level tutor group to track and guide college student ventures, recommended entrepreneurial projects by college students to various innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and provided startups with one-stop services and solutions for financing, finding a suitable location, applying for preferential policies, and planning their development.

Over the past five years, the district has helped thousands of people take out 170 million yuan ($24.07 million) of entrepreneurship business guarantee loans and helped around 1,000 university students start businesses. More than 2,000 startups have enjoyed nearly 17.5 million yuan in bonuses and subsidies.

More than 30 city-level and 15 provincial-level university student entrepreneurship projects have been carried out in Gangzha district.
