An exhibition of modern historical military artifacts, held at Nantong Normal College on Sept 5, attracted a lot of keen interest, according to the organizers.

More than 200 items used by soldiers of the 14th Red Army led by Zhou Enlai went on display -- including wooden stools, ink stones, rain hats, bowls and daggers.

The exhibits are part of a collection of a veteran, Qin Longqing, the organizers added.

The exhibition demonstrated the revolutionary history of the Sanguan Temple in Tongzhou district of Nantong. It used to be a Taoism temple where the locals worshiped gods and prayed for peace and prosperity but it became a secret command base for the 14th Red Army between 1929 and 1930.
