Tongzhou-based company donates protective materials to Sabah

Nantong Si Jian Construction Group Co, based in Tongzhou district, Nantong, donated 35,000 face masks and 1,500 bottles of disinfectant to Sabah, Malaysia on May 27. The event was reported by several local media, including Asia Times, See Hua Daily News, and Overseas Chinese Daily News.

The deputy minister of Sabah and director of the ministry of tourism, culture and environment, thanked the company on behalf of local government.

During a visit to a high-rise apartment being constructed by Nantong Si Jian Construction Group Co, representatives from Sabah expressed hope that local enterprises would learn from the Tongzhou-based company not only in terms of construction technology, but also in terms of honoring their social responsibility.

The apartment, covering an area of 180,000 square meters, is among the largest engineering projects in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. More than 500 people are working on the construction site, including over 100 Indonesians and Malaysians.

Construction was suspended on March 18 due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus. Amid the pandemic, the company purchased and donated protective materials to Sabah to help in the battle against the virus.
