Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province has been working with Lueyang county in Shaanxi province to alleviate poverty. An online recruitment fair was held between the two locales on June 11.

The recruitment fair aimed to attract more workers to Hai'an enterprises and help with the employment problem facing poverty-stricken households in Lueyang.

At the beginning of this year, the departments of human resources and social security in Hai'an and Lueyang contacted each other. A total of 949 job opportunities are being provided by 12 Hai'an-based enterprises experiencing labor shortages.

After the epidemic subsided in China, Hai'an chartered airplanes to retrieve a total of 285 workers from Lueyang, and six enterprises held recruitment fairs in Lueyang in late March, hiring 85 workers there.

Hai'an and Lueyang have been strengthening cooperation in the labor force since 2017. Over the past three years, Hai'an has hired 718 employees from Lueyang, including 367 people from poverty-stricken households.

Zhong Xiaowei, deputy director of Hai'an's bureau of human resources and social security, said that the local government will guarantee salary payment, social insurance, child education and accommodations for the workers and help them solve problems in a timely manner.
