Zhu Jianglin, a post-95s generation employee of Yumin village in Tongzhou district – administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – has been busy flying an unmanned aerial vehicle, or UAV to spray insecticides in the paddy fields these days as the rice enters the critical period for pest control.

Considering that high temperatures can undermine the effectiveness of pesticide spraying, Zhu gets up early and works outdoors for over seven hours a day.

The first demonstration base for a UAV in Jiangsu province arrived in Yumin village last year. The intelligent technology and cutting-edge devices are said to greatly save labor and improve work efficiency.

It took more than one year for Zhu to learn how to use a harvester, a plant protection machine, a tractor and now the UAV.

"Young people like him who are down to earth and willing to work hard are indispensable for the development of a new socialist countryside," said Xu Hongfei, secretary of the general Party branch of Yumin village, who says he has a high opinion of Zhu.

Over the past year, the village has devoted a great amount of effort to improving rural roads and has established two garbage sorting sites and raised the environment protection awareness of locals, which has strengthened Zhu's confidence to work there.
