The Nantong International Home Textile Industrial Park, established in November last year, is aiming to become a world-class textile industry zone, local media reported on Nov 24.

Home textile is a pillar industry in Nantong and also the city's most distinctive calling card.

This year, Nantong authorities announced its support of the textile industry's transformation and the expansion of Nantong home textile's international influence. They also revealed that the city will build a national airport-related economy demonstration zone based on the home textile park and airport zone.

The trading volume of the Haimen Dearshiqiao and Tongzhou Zhihao home textile markets in the park totaled 170.7 billion yuan ($26.73 billion) in the first three quarters of this year, a year-on-year increase of 20.2 percent and the highest among its counterparts in China.

Qian Suomei, director of the administration committee of the Nantong International Home Textile Industrial Park, said that the industry park has over the past year sought digital upgrading in design, manufacturing, marketing, and logistics.

The industry park is also striving to launch a provincial-level cross-border e-commerce demonstration park and create an online and offline ecological chain for the cross-border e-commerce industry.

In the first 10 months of this year, the export value of cross-border e-commerce in the industry park amounted to $19.84 million.

Pan Jianhua, vice-mayor of Nantong, noted that the Nantong International Home Textile Industrial Park will pursue high-quality development in research, design, and manufacturing.
