A culture and art festival was held on Dec 6 at the square of the Qingdun relics site museum in Nanmo town in Hai'an, a county-level city administered by Nantong, in East China's Jiangsu province, to great fanfare.

Hundreds of visitors and merchants visited, in order to appreciate the art performances, taste local snacks and buy local specialties.

Situated in the Lixia River depression in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River – formed over millennia by many waterways – Nanmo town is said to enjoy exceptional advantages in developing its local aquaculture.

The town's river crab industry has continuously expanded after several years of exploration and practice. The cultivation area for hairy crabs in the town now exceeds 333 hectares.

In recent years, Nanmo has fully tapped into the rich tourism resources in the Lixia River depression and made efforts to develop its own style of eco-tourism. As a result, aquaculture and eco-tourism have become important channels for locals to increase their incomes.

"I'm happy to visit here. In addition to tasting local snacks, I also bought specialties such as taro and chicken," said a tourist from Shanghai with delight.

At the opening ceremony, the sponsors also held a cultural bazaar to demonstrate the characteristics of the town to visitors. Great rural travel routes were released at the same time.
