Chuanjiang town – located in the Tongzhou district of Nantong city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has high hopes for the future development of its home textiles sector, in the wake of a raft of initiatives undertaken in recent years.

The town, which is renowned in the sector, is by far one of the largest home textiles industrial agglomerations in China.

Moving forward, digital transformation has become a key focus for its home textiles companies, and Tongzhou Lansiyu Household Textile Co Ltd is one of them. Several years ago, the business conducted a reconstruction of its sewing and its quilt-making workshops. It also introduced a full set of intelligent equipment from Sweden, covering the whole process from receiving orders to production and from inventory checking to packaging.

Resident companies in the town have also focused on optimizing their structures and promoting low-carbon development. Jiangsu Goldsun Textile Science and Technology Co Ltd, for one, has carried out research and development into eco-friendly raw materials and processing techniques. Last September, it rolled out the first tencel fabric made out of zero-carbon tencel fiber.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), 64 projects were signed up to settle in Chuanjiang town, including 44 projects worth 100 million yuan ($15.83 million) and more, according to Wang Yubin, Party secretary of Chuanjiang.

Moving forward, plans are for the town to attract 20 new projects worth at least 1 billion yuan in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), by improving the business environment. Efforts will also be made to streamline its administrative approval procedures and protect intellectual property rights.
