As spring arrives, farmers in Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, have started spring ploughing.

At the lotus root planting base in Pingyuanchi village in the Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone, farmers are busy digging lotus root seedlings.

In addition, plant protection work has begun in Hexing village, Baipu town. Over 300 mu (20 hectares) of wheat must be weeded and fertilized.

The Rugao audit bureau and agriculture and rural affairs bureau of Wuyao town visited a grapery to offer volunteer services, including agricultural policy interpretation and planting technology services.
