Nantong to build 15 provincial public cultural spaces this year

Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province is expected to build an additional 15 provincial public cultural spaces this year by investing to improve more public cultural establishments, local media recent reported.

To date, 30 public cultural spaces in the city have received recognition from the provincial government.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Jiangsu plans to create 1,000 beautiful public cultural spaces, each of which is required to cover an area of more than 200 square meters, be open to the public for more than one year and has convenient services and a good spatial arrangement.

In March this year, Nantong nominated 16 public cultural spaces for status as beautiful public cultural spaces in the province.

Haoxi Library, a branch of Nantong Library, is one such space. It has a collection of thousands of books and many employees, including inheritors of intangible cultural heritage items and tea art specialists.

A range of products created by Haoxi Library and Nantong Museum, coffee, and tea are also available for readers to enjoy. Since it started operating in early 2020, the library has received nearly 90,000 visitors.
