The China Nantong (Home Textile) Intellectual Property Rapid Protection Center – located in the Tongzhou district of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – received a complaint from the Nantong Ruilin Home Textile Co Ltd a few days ago.

The company reported that two of its patented fabrics had been infringed and misappropriated on e-commerce platforms – and that over 20 online stores were involved in the transgression.

In response, the IP protection center immediately contacted the e-commerce platforms and required an immediate cessation of the infringements.

"It took less than two days to solve the problems, with a high level of efficiency," said Yuan Wanli, a senior executive of the complainant business. The latest incident is part of a broader picture – reflecting the lodging of many patent infringement cases every year. But now the rapid protection center is acting to help stop the sales of infringed products, thereby reducing the manufacturer's losses directly after a complaint is made.

In recent years, Tongzhou district has steadily expanded its intellectual property protection. To do so, it established the China Nantong (Home Textile) Intellectual Property Rapid Protection Center and the China (Nantong) Intellectual Property Protection Center, helping it maintain its leading position in IP in the province.

In 2021, the center received 2,902 complaint cases. Some 1,854 were deemed to be unfounded and were dismissed, while some 1,048 were found to be justified and were acted upon.

Since the China (Nantong) Intellectual Property Protection Center started operating, it is said to have effectively connected key areas – such as reviews and authorizations, administrative law enforcement, judicial protection, arbitration and mediation and industry self-discipline.
