Ju Pengfei from Banjing town in Rugao, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been committed to aerospace material surface engineering for eight years.

Over the past eight years, Ju Pengfei and his team have developed a series of protective coatings on surfaces, which prevents the corrosion and wear of aerospace materials and supports the lightweight development and increased longevity of aerospace equipment.

In June, 2013, Ju Pengfei entered Shanghai Aerospace Equipments Manufacturer Co Ltd after graduating from Beijing University of Chemical Technology with a doctoral degree.

In 2013, Shanghai Aerospace integrated its resources and established a new heat treatment technology center. Under the leadership of Ju, the center successfully developed the first portable organic coating anticorrosion performance tester in China, bringing the research and development of functional coatings such as antibacterial lubrication to the forefront of China.

In the preliminary investigation, Ju found that many aerospace products need to be used in the marine and atmospheric environment, but few people pay attention to corrosion control technology. He thus decided to carry out special research into this unknown field.

After trying nearly 100 verification tests, putting in more than 1,000 kinds of test pieces, and carrying out more than 4,000 groups of data analysis, Ju developed a series of testing technologies, including an accelerated aging system for simulated marine environment materials and portable coating performance testing instruments. The new protective coating system was then screened out, signficantly improving the service life of China's equipment in the marine environment.
