​7 Rugao enterprises recognized as 'little giants'

Seven enterprises in Rugao, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province were recently included in the 4th batch of national "little giant" enterprises, local media reported on Aug 17.

The city is currently home to 15 "little giant" enterprises, the most in Nantong.

"Little giant" enterprises are outstanding small and medium-sized enterprises that have strong innovation capabilities, large market shares, core technologies and high product quality and profitability.

To be recognized as a "little giant" enterprise, operating income in the previous year must exceed 50 million yuan ($7.38 million), and total research and development expenses in the past two years must account for at least 6 percent of total revenue.

In recent years, Rugao has been striving to promote its industrial development.

From January to June, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 5.5 percent, the highest in Nantong. Taxable sales of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 19.9 percent, ranking first in Nantong.

Next, Rugao will continue to promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries and make emerging industries stronger by focusing on the six leading industries.
