An exhibition featuring 150 calligraphy works created by Lu Fengbin, a retired major general of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, opened in Tongzhou district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Sept 4.

Born in Dongshe town, Tongzhou district in October 1939, Lu was conferred the rank of major general in 1988.

Lu has been practicing calligraphy for more than 50 years and learned the traditional art from a number of masters in the field, including Shen Peng, honorary president of the Chinese Calligraphers Association. His writing style has won high recognition in calligraphy circles.

Most calligraphy works displayed at the exhibition were created by Lu in recent years, including some created to mark the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

The exhibited works will be sold to charity after the five-day exhibition, with the funds raised being donated to the Tongzhou Zhongxiao Museum, according to the organizers.
