Chongchuan district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province has been making efforts to enhance its livability.

In terms of improving the working environment, Chongchuan has launched 28 measures so far this year to lure talents. These measures include providing subsistence allowance, apartments and housing subsidies.

Authorities have also been taking steps to boost employment. For example, the district has created 268,000 jobs this year through 195 job fairs.

Regarding improvements to the living environment, the district has spent 1.87 billion yuan ($258.65 million) on the renovation of 50 old residential communities this year.

Authorities have also implemented refuse classification in 279 residential communities as part of efforts to create a cleaner, more sustainable environment. The Hongqiao sub-district in Chongchuan, for example, has cooperated with community properties to help seniors dispose of their garbage and strengthen the awareness of refuse classification among the elderly.

In addition, some 6,000 parking lots in the district are now managed by an intelligent system that can save people's time in looking for the parking space and paying parking fees.

Efforts have also been made to improve the education sector. In 2021, the district established five public kindergartens and three new ones will be put into use at the end of this year.

Meanwhile, students in grade one and two are now tested on their knowledge through educational games instead of exams, a move that has enriched their experience in school and alleviated academic burdens.

To improve child services, district authorities have established three childcare centers this year. To date, the childcare centers in the district have organized 36 education activities that have benefited about 600 children.
