Tangzha Bridges

The history of Tangzha Bridges, also known as Dayang Bridges, in ancient Tangzha town, Nantong dates back to 1906 when the town was prospering from the Dasheng Cotton Mills.

To connect the eastern and western parts of Tangzha town, which are separated by the Tongyang Canal, Zhang Jian (1853-1926), a renowned industrial magnate in Nantong and founder of the Dasheng Cotton Mills, built the Tangzha Bridges.

The bridges have been rebuilt three times, and the current Tangzha Bridges consist of four steel bridges with the two middle bridges for vehicles and two side bridges for pedestrians.

There are many places to visit around the Tangzha Bridges, including the former residences of notable figures, Tangzha Theater, Tangzha Exhibition Hall, and Tangzha Bookstore, which is known as the most beautiful bookstore in Jiangsu.
