Changle town's rural tourism receives national recognition

Changle town in Haimen district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, recently made the second batch of national rural tourism towns, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The town receives more than 1.5 million tourists and generates over 70 million yuan ($10.06 million) in tourism revenue per year.

Changle has a population of 75,000 and administers 22 villages and three sub-districts.

The town ranks first among its counterparts in Haimen in terms of comprehensive strength, and in 2021 it made the list of the top 500 towns in terms of high-quality development.

Located at the core area of the Yangtze River National Culture Park, Changle town boasts a great location and an abundance of tourist attractions. It is also the hometown of Zhang Jian (1853-1926), a renowned industrial magnate, educator, and scholar.

Changle in recent years has been building up its brand as the hometown of Zhang Jian and promoting the integration of the agriculture, culture, and tourism industries.

It boasts one 4A-level tourist attraction (the Hometown of Zhang Jian scenic area), one national museum (Zhang Jian Memorial Hall), and one provincial industrial tourism area (Yisheng Cultural Park).

The town is also home to Yisheng wine brewing, Tonghai homespun cloth making, and redwood carving techniques.

In addition, Changle has improved its transportation facilities in recent years, with 10-kilometer cycling paths, shared electric bicycles, and sightseeing buses now available in the town.
