Rugao releases 2022 statistics bulletin

Rugao's gross domestic product totaled 147.93 billion yuan ($21.51 billion) in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 2.3 percent, according to the government statistical bulletin.

The added values of the city's primary, secondary and tertiary industries were 8.66 billion yuan, 74.17 billion yuan and 65.08 billion yuan, respectively, up 4.1 percent, 4.1 percent and 0.1 percent over the previous year.

Urban employment increased by 11,300, and 3,654 people with employment difficulties received government assistance to find jobs.

At the end of 2022, the city's permanent population was 1.22 million, a decrease of 4,400 compared with the end of the previous year. The urban population was 769,100, an increase of 0.5 percent, and the urbanization rate was 62.9 percent, an increase of 0.5 percentage points over the previous year.

The city's grain sowing area exceeded 1.5 million mu (100,013 hectares), an increase of 700 mu over the previous year.

The revenue of the city's industrial enterprises above designated size totaled 152.24 billion yuan, up 7.1 percent.

The city's total retail sales of consumer goods saw a year-on-year increase of 0.9 percent to 53.7 billion yuan.

Imports and exports were valued at 37.71 billion yuan in 2022, a growth of 16.3 percent over the previous year. Exports to the European Union, the United States and Japan increased by 3.6 percent, 5.4 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

The annual per capita disposable income of all residents was 43,656 yuan, an uptick of 5.1 percent over the previous year.

The per capita disposable income of urban residents was 56,056 yuan, up 4.3 percent, while that of rural residents was 27,820 yuan, up 5.9 percent.

The per capita income ratio of urban and rural residents was 2.01:1, 0.03 lower than the previous year.
