Hai'an shows steady economic growth in first five months

Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, saw positive economic growth in the first five months of this year.

The taxable industrial sales in Hai'an reached 91.75 billion yuan (12.68 billion), up 0.5 percent year-on-year, while fixed asset investment reached 33.02 billion yuan, an increase of 9.9 percent year-on-year.

The modern service industry in Hai'an also witnessed rapid development during the period, with the county's taxable sales in the service sector reaching 47.278 billion yuan, a growth of 16.24 percent year-on-year. Retail sales of consumer goods in Hai’an reached 18.44 billion yuan, reflecting a 13.3 percent year-on-year increase.

Additionally, Hai'an witnessed the establishment of 40 new service industry enterprises during the period.

From January to May, Hai'an's foreign trade also experienced rapid growth, with imports and exports amounting to 8.34 billion yuan.

Hai'an also maintained stable financial operations. The general public budget of the county reached 3.331 billion yuan, up 46.16 percent year-on-year.
