Donggao Bookstore in Binxi community, Rucheng sub-district, Rugao, Jiangsu province introduced a public welfare class featuring shadow puppetry, an intangible cultural heritage item, on July 8.

The activity attracted a large number of children, who learned about and experienced shadow puppetry and traditional culture.

Chinese shadow puppetry is one of the oldest types of opera in China. It has a history of more than 2,000 years and is an ancient traditional Chinese folk art.
