Haiyong eyes progress in culture, tourism industry

Authorities in Haiyong town, Haimen district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, held a news conference to showcase the town's achievements in agriculture, culture and tourism on July 13.

According to the conference, the town has channeled more resources into green development, including investing 7 million yuan ($974,554.04) to upgrade the ecological environment along the Yangtze River and spending 50 million yuan to treat water and build an 18-kilometer ecological corridor.

The town has also seized the opportunities brought about by the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, promoting the in-depth integration of agricultural, cultural, and tourism industries. It has effectively transformed its advantageous location, natural resources, and historical and cultural resources into drivers of economic and social development.

The town has completed the Dongzhou Rose Garden project, combining cultivation, leisure, sightseeing, and tourism for the floral industry.

Yu Xiaojian, deputy Party secretary of the town, said the local government is continuing efforts to develop more themed tours and boutique tours including hiking, study tours and photography to provide better experiences to tourists.

Haiyong has earned several prominent national accolades, including being listed as a national demonstration site for leisure agriculture and rural tourism, a national pilot unit for "Beautiful Village" project, a national demonstration village for "One Village, One Product," and a national-level sanitary town.
