Museums have become popular places for students in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, to spend their two-month summer vacation this year.

The local municipal bureau of culture, broadcasting, and tourism has publicized more than 70 exhibitions including nearly 50 permanent ones, and 28 educational activities at museums.

Ten travel routes themed on cultural relics in Nantong were also released to encourage local students to learn more about local culture and develop confidence in traditional Chinese culture.

Ji Jiaming, head of Hai'an Museum, said that this summer vacation the museum will offer a temporary exhibition about the cultural relics in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) and an experience activity of making pottery.

Museums in Nantong also provide unique activities. Students can make traditional Chinese medicine sachets at the Nantong Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum, study Shen embroidery at Shen's Embroidery Museum, and weave bamboo-braided fans at Zhang Jian Memorial Hall.
