Wu Xinming, Party secretary of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, met with Ohya Mitsuo, president of Japan-based Toray Group on Dec 20.

Wu welcomed Mitsuo and said that Nantong was one of the first coastal cities to adopt opening up policies, and that a group of foreign businesses, including Toray, have established presences in the city.

With the increasing integration between Nantong and Shanghai, as well as southern Jiangsu, the city boasts more business opportunities and brighter prospects, noted Wu.

He added that as a world-renowned high-tech multinational, Toray has yielded fruitful results in Nantong over the past three decades and he hopes that the group will increase investment in the city and seek cooperation in more fields.

Wu also promised that Nantong will open wider to the world, create an international business environment based on market principles and rule of law, and offer foreign companies more efficient services.

Mitsuo thanked Nantong for its long-term support. He noted that with convenient transportation, a solid industrial foundation, and a favorable investment environment, Nantong is Toray's important partner and the group will carry out practical cooperation with the city at higher levels and in more fields to contribute to the city's modern industrial system.

Established in 1926, Toray Group is an integrated chemical industry group developing its business in 26 countries and regions worldwide with 255 subsidiaries and 46,248 employees.
