International students in Nantong, Jiangsu province, enjoyed the charm of outstanding traditional Chinese culture on Feb 11, the second day of the Year of the Dragon.

After learning about Peking Opera's facial makeup and apparel, as well as the daily life of the opera players at the Stage Play School, the students from Nantong Vocational University tried on some outfits, practiced body movements, and even did some singing.

A student from Namibia noted that she has been very fond of traditional Chinese culture and that she felt very happy to be able to try Peking Opera makeup and apparel.

Another student from Vietnam said that while boasting their own features, both countries' cultures share some similarities. She hopes to work as a guide after graduation to contribute to the people-to-people communication between China and Vietnam.

Ninety-one of the international students at the university stayed in Nantong for the Spring Festival this year. To help build a festive atmosphere before the holiday, they learned to write the Chinese character "福", make paper-cuts for window decoration, and hang lanterns.

By cooperating with local communities, enterprises, and banks, the university also organized activities to assist the students in using shared bicycles and familiarize them with making mobile payments in China.
