Modern service industry prospers in Rugao

Rugao's modern service industry is experiencing robust growth as the city accelerates efforts to build a high-quality and efficient service sector.

Rugao has been promoting the integration of the manufacturing and service industries among local enterprises. MLily, a mattress brand selected as a model for such integration at the provincial level, has achieved full automation and digitization in production control, equipment management, safety, and environmental protection.

Rugao Port, situated in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, has opened water transport routes to over 80 countries and regions. In the first two months of this year, the port handled a cargo throughput of 12.6 million metric tons, a 4.16-percent year-on-year increase. Foreign trade throughput reached 1.98 million tons, a surge of 60.39 percent, while container throughput reached 85,000 TEUs, up by 8.25 percent compared to the same period last year.

Currently, Rugao is accelerating the development of multimodal transport to optimize the structure of goods transportation. On Feb 2, the city welcomed its first freight container train, providing a boost to the city's transportation capabilities.

Rugao has constructed several large commercial complexes in recent years, and efforts have been made to enhance the quality of tourism in order to establish Rugao as a prominent tourist destination in the Yangtze River Delta.

Rugao's elderly care system is also improving. Currently, the city has 39 registered elderly care institutions, many of which are locally operated.
