The 2024 China-Singapore Youth Interns Exchange Scheme (YES) was launched in Nantong, Jiangsu province, on July 6.

Hosted by Business China, a Singapore-based non-governmental, non-profit organization, and Nantong Stalford international School, YES this year attracted the participation of numerous Singaporean enterprises and private businesses in the city.

They all expressed willingness to offer Singaporean youths internships, creating opportunities for exchanges between young people from the two countries.

"We're a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore-based Kinergy Corp Ltd and with large demand for technicians, we expect to bring in more high-profile talent through the program," said Teng Liming, personnel manager of Kinergy Electronics (Nantong) Co.

In 2019, China and Singapore signed the Youth Interns Exchange Scheme, which enables 500 young Singaporeans to intern in China for up to six months annually, and vice versa.

Led by Singapore's Ministry of Education and implemented by Business China, YES is the first bilateral intern exchange program signed by Singapore with another country.

In July of last year, the program was launched in Suzhou, Jiangsu province with the release of detailed policies from related government departments of the two countries to support it.
