In recent years, Qidong in Jiangsu province has bolstered synergy between industry, academia, and research to promote the innovative development of local enterprises.

A special matchmaking meeting on collaborative industry-academia-research innovation between Qidong and Harbin Engineering University was recently held in Harbin, Heilongjiang province.

The city's science and technology bureau arranged for 10 local enterprises to bring nearly 30 new technologies to HEU, offering a face-to-face platform for experts and representatives from the two sides.

“During the event, agreements for eight cooperation projects between local enterprises and HEU were signed," said Zhang Junjie, an employee of the science and technology bureau.

These projects serve as collaborative platforms that promote comprehensive matching between universities, local governments, and enterprises in terms of scientific and technological innovation, industrial development, and talent exchange. They will also assist the innovative transformation and development of Qidong's enterprises, Zhang added.

In addition, a delegation from the Advanced Ocean Institute of Southeast University, Nantong, recently visited a company in Qidong. Both sides tentatively agreed to cooperate in talent cultivation and carry out technical collaboration.

Qidong has focused on major industries in recent years, such as biopharmaceuticals and engineering vessels, deepening cooperation between local governments and universities and strengthening the development of innovation platforms.

In 2024, a total of 189 industry-academia-research projects were implemented in the city.
