World's largest, eco-friendly car carrier delivered in Haimen
The world's largest and most environmentally friendly car carrier ship, capable of transporting 9,100 vehicles, was delivered in Haimen on Jan 5.
This vehicle carrier is the third aurora-class dual-fuel, zero-carbon-ready car carrier built at the Haimen base of China's Merchants Industry Holdings. The vessel measures 199.9 meters in length, 37.6 meters in width, and has a depth of 14.53 meters, with a design draft of 9.35 meters.
The ship is powered by a low-speed dual-fuel engine and three dual-fuel generators, capable of using liquefied natural gas as well as conventional fuels. It is certified by the Norwegian classification society DNV (Det Norske Veritas) for being ammonia- and methanol-fuel-ready.
