To enrich the cultural lives of young people, the Chongchuan cultural Center, in collaboration with Nantong Qinyue Culture and the Nanjing University of the Arts' Music School, held a percussion appreciation and hands-on experience event on Jan 9.

The event, themed "Unlocking the Endless Possibilities of Percussion", offered a unique opportunity for local children to explore the world of percussion instruments.

Renowned percussion expert and master's supervisor from the Nanjing University of the Arts, Ling Kai, served as the keynote speaker. Combining his extensive expertise with engaging storytelling, Ling introduced the audience to various types of percussion instruments and highlighted their indispensable role in orchestras. He also provided live demonstrations of three standard percussion instruments—the snare drum, timpani, and marimba — showcasing their unique techniques and sounds.

"Percussion instruments are so diverse, and each has such a distinct sound — it's amazing. I used to think playing them was easy, but after the lecture, I realized how challenging it is, especially with the precise hand techniques," said Liu Yun, a captivated 10-year-old participant.

The workshop not only taught valuable musical knowledge but also sparked enthusiasm among the children. They gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for music by engaging in hands-on practice. The event successfully ignited a passion for music, nurturing creativity and contributing to the holistic development of the youth in Chongchuan.
