Statistics from the Nantong maritime safety bureau show that in 2024, Nantong Port's container throughput broke through the historic milestone of 3 million twenty-foot equivalent units, a year-on-year increase of 52.45 percent.

Last year, 352,000 vessels entered and exited Nantong's jurisdiction, with the port's cargo throughput reaching 359 million metric tons.

The Nantong maritime safety bureau continued to optimize the navigational environment, improve port turnover efficiency, and scientifically formulate vessel traffic organization plans last year. A series of measures ensured vessel safety entering and exiting the port, and  significantly improved port operational efficiency.

The bureau is not only the guardian of safe vessel navigation, but also a considerate service provider for enterprises. In 2024, the maritime bureau vigorously promoted the online government service platform, realizing "one-stop" business approval and simplifying the process. Throughout the year, they assisted companies in completing vessel mortgage financing totaling 1.16 billion yuan ($158.23 million), surpassing the 1 billion mark for the sixth consecutive year, and provided "non-stop sailing certification" services for 30 vessels registered in Nantong, saving companies 28 million yuan in costs.
