Recently, islands and mudflats along the Yangtze River in Rugao have become a haven for migratory birds, including cormorants, egrets, and whooper swans. These birds, seen gliding over the water or singing from treetops, are a testament to Rugao's improving ecological environment.
In recent years, Rugao has implemented water quality improvements and greening initiatives, creating a thriving ecosystem where water, birds, and fish coexist in harmony. As a result, more bird species are choosing the area as a habitat for resting and breeding.
Among the sights, agile cormorants — often called "masters of fishing" — can be seen skillfully diving and darting across the river in search of their next meal. Meanwhile, large flocks of egrets gracefully stroll along the shallow waters, adding to the picturesque natural scenery.
This growing presence of wildlife highlights Rugao's ongoing commitment to ecological conservation and biodiversity.
