The 2025 Qidong Marathon started on March 30, drawing over 10,000 runners from home and abroad. The event brought in sporting enthusiasts and boosted local tourism and the economy.

Before the race began, the marathon gained attention for offering the "freshest race pack". Each participant received a vacuum-packed local specialty—small-eyed hairtail fish. Additionally, record-breaking runners were rewarded with a seafood gift package featuring swimming crabs and Spanish mackerel.

Lyusi Fishing Port, located in Qidong, is recognized as one of China's four major fishing harbors, celebrated for its abundant seafood offerings. The recent marathon event integrated local culinary delicacies into the experience, highlighting the regional charm of Qidong.

The marathon route, 33 kilometers along the scenic coastline, provided participants with breathtaking views. "For me, the best way to experience a city is by running a marathon there!" said Zhu Feng, a runner from Shanghai. "The Qidong Marathon was an amazing experience—the course was stunning, making every step enjoyable."

This year, the Qidong Marathon was held alongside other cultural and tourism events, including Qidong's first Low-Altitude Flight Carnival. Among the 12,000 runners in this year's race, 70 percent came from outside the city. Many took the opportunity to explore Qidong's attractions, experiencing the city's unique charm beyond the race.
