The city of Nantong – located in East China's Jiangsu province – rolled out 108 policies in late April to boost the development of its manufacturing and service sectors.

The policies aim to help business entities – from sole traders, to partnerships and large manufacturers – to stabilize their operations and ease the administrative burden.

In order to better implement them, the administrative approval bureau of Chongchuan district – the main urban area of Nantong – has upgraded its services. It has set up dedicated windows to process all the online and on-site applications related to the policies and has also opened a 24-hour phone hotline to offer assistance to local companies.

Nantong Guoxin Pharmaceutical Co Ltd is a pharmaceutical wholesale enterprise established last year. As a new firm, Guoxin paid attention to reducing the impact brought about by the COVID-19 outbreak, through the use of preferential policies when getting back to work.

Learning that the rent could be reduced, Tang Ming, who is in charge of product quality at the pharma group, visited the dedicated window at the district administrative approval bureau. He found that what used to take several visits to departments and 1-2 weeks to complete the process, has now been streamlined.

"Now, if all the materials are ready, it only takes half a day to finish everything, which is great," Tang said.
