A project from Nantong Guosheng Intelligence Technology Group, or Guosheng Group - based in the Nantong Gangzha Economic Development Zone in Jiangsu province – was recently selected to be a 2020 Jiangsu provincial science and technology achievement transformation project, according to local officials.

They said the project is for research and development and commercialization of five-axis intelligent machining for large-scale, high-precision complex curved surfaces.

The project combines a five-axis computer numerical control machining and gantry machine, which can be applied to complex curved surfaces – featuring high-precision, high materials removal rate and thin-walled integral structures.

Officials said it will become the major machining equipment in various industries - such as aviation, aerospace, shipping, energy and transportation - which takes the place of traditional manufacturing, such as smoothing after three-axis CNC machine tool processing.

They added that in addition, bottleneck problems in the aviation, aerospace, transportation, automotive and other strategic industries - concerning  high-efficiency high-accuracy machining of core components - will be resolved by implementing this project.

The project is expected to bolster the development of relevant strategic industries.
