NETDA, university pave way for student entrepreneurship

The National University Science Park of Nantong University recently combined forces with the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area, or NETDA – located in the prefecture-level city of Nantong, in East China's Jiangsu province – to hold a guidance activity for a road show project, according to local media reports on June 11.

A group of 17 student innovation and startup projects supported by an expert guidance group were promoted during the event.

Nantong Tongda Medical Technology Co Ltd – founded by the teachers and students of the Special Medical Research Institute of Nantong University – was one of the successful projects that was launched.

"Compared with similar projects, we have the advantages of low costs and high accuracy," said  team leader Zhang Xinyu. Zhang said that the company was established in August 2020, and its sales is expected to reached 6.6 million yuan in its first year.

Nantong University – located in Nantong city in Jiangsu province – was inaugurated in 1912. It started out as the private Nantong Medical Specialized School and the Nantong Textile Specialized School founded by Zhang Jian, a leading industrialist and educator.

It has 20 schools, one independent college, the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, the School of International Education, and the School of Continuing Education in the university.

There are three postdoctoral research stations for basic medicine, clinical medicine and information and communications engineering – as well as three first-level doctoral programs for basic medicine, clinical medicine, information and communications engineering and 22 first-level master's degree programs and 10 professional master's degree programs.
