NETDA chemical park receives national recognition

The chemical park in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA), East China’s Jiangsu province was listed among China’s top 30 chemical parks, according to a circular by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation on Dec 23.

This achievement is largely due to the implementation of a series of measures rolled out by the authorities in NETDA to advance the high-quality development of its chemical industry.

For example, authorities launched a campaign at the beginning of 2021 to relocate 10 chemical enterprises along the Yangtze River. This move has greatly reduced the amount of pollutants being discharged into the Yangtze River.

Authorities have also made efforts to improve the infrastructure by optimizing the facilities for the supply of electric power, heat, water and gas, and channeled more resources towards sewage treatment and hazardous waste collection.

In addition, authorities have sought to protect the ecological environment by establishing a comprehensive management platform and building industrial parks that are free of extraneous odor.

To drive the development of the park, authorities have been working to attract projects related to functional polymer materials and fine chemicals.

The output value of the park’s chemical enterprises was 44.67 billion yuan in the January-November period this year, a year-on-year increase of 5.76 percent, accounting for 26.57 percent of the area’s industrial enterprises above designated size.
