The air quality in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in East China's Jiangsu province continued to improve in 2022, with the concentration of PM2.5 dropping from 30.4 micrograms per cubic meter in 2021 to 24 micrograms last year, according to the Nantong bureau of ecology and environment.

This was largely due to the implementation of a series of measures rolled out by NETDA authorities, including establishing a sound supervision system for treating air pollution, advancing industrial transformation and upgrading, launching emission reduction campaigns, and optimizing dust control systems.

The supervision mechanism, which adopted the accountability system, has clarified the major tasks and responsibilities of all related agencies, including communities and subdistricts committees, with regard to the area's air treatment efforts.

Authorities have in recent years been advancing green development by adopting measures like shutting down polluting chemical companies. The area is currently home to two provincial green factories and three green maintenance garages.

Authorities have over the past few years also attached great importance to reducing emissions, calling for chemical enterprises to invest 150 million yuan ($21.72 million) in building industrial parks that are free of extraneous odor.

In addition, the NETDA government has implemented a series of measures, including increasing the number of mist cannon trucks, watering vehicles and sweeping machines to improve its mist treatment capability.
