Potential healthcare cooperation to reach between Shanghai, Nantong
A delegation led by Chen Yihan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the director of Shanghai East Hospital, visited the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) to conduct discussions on deepening healthcare cooperation between Shanghai and Nantong.
The visit aimed to promote strategic collaboration between Shanghai East Hospital and Nantong Rich Hospital in areas such as medical technology cooperation, joint development of medical disciplines, and talent sharing.
During the meeting, Bao Delin, secretary of the Party working committee of NETDA, highlighted the complementary advantages between Shanghai's Pudong New Area, known for its international finance and technology innovation, and Nantong's solid industrial base and open, innovative policies. He emphasized that this collaboration supports the Yangtze River Delta region's healthcare integration strategy and strengthens cross-river integration, injecting new momentum into the region's healthcare development.
Chen praised Nantong's approach to healthcare development and innovation. After the site visit, he noted that the two sides share a high degree of alignment in their development philosophy and practical approach. He expressed confidence that strategic cooperation would offer valuable opportunities, accelerate progress, and achieve deeper integration.
Shanghai East Hospital's national key laboratory of cardiology, led by Chen, is the only national key laboratory in Shanghai spearheaded by a hospital. The laboratory focuses on tackling major clinical challenges in cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment, aiming to break through key technological barriers and establish a global hub for heart disease innovation. The collaboration with Nantong Rich Hospital will provide a broader platform for the clinical application of the lab's research outcomes.
