Rudong announces economic numbers for H1

The gross domestic product (GDP) of Rudong county in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, exceeded 63.11 billion yuan ($9.74 billion) in the first half of 2021, representing a year-on-year increase of 13.5 percent (calculated on a comparable basis), said Ji Haichun, head of the local statistics bureau, at a press conference held on July 26.

In the same period, Rudong's industrial added value above designated size increased by 20.1 percent year-on-year. From January to June, there were 763 industrial enterprises above designated size (those with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan) in the county, with a total industrial output of 82.51 billion yuan, up 26.3 percent year on year.

The high-tech industrial output value of Rudong accounted for 53.3 percent of its total industrial output value, 1.3 percentage points higher than in the first quarter. The county's investment in high-tech industries surged 200.7 percent year-on-year, ranking first among regions in Nantong.

In the January-June period, total retail sales of consumer goods were valued at 23.36 billion yuan, up 29.8 percent. Rudong's fixed-asset investments rose by 15.9 percent over the same period of last year. Revenue in its general public budgets reached 4.03 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.9 percent.

The operating income of service enterprises above designated size grew 41.7 percent to nearly 3.28 billion yuan from January to May.

In the first half of the year, Rudong's imports and exports were valued at 20.03 billion yuan. Exports were valued at 8.33 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.3 percent.
