After 15 years without postal services, Yangguang Island – the man-made island in Yangkou Port in Rudong county, Nantong city, in East China's Jiangsu province – recently got a regular mail service.

Since its completion in 2008, resident companies and staff based on the island could only receive and send mail outside the island at specified times.

According to officials, in order to promote Yangkou Port to be one of the biggest LNG receiving and unloading hubs in China, it is increasingly urgent to improve the support facilities on Yangguang Island.

On July 1, two special post vans containing parcels, express mail, newspapers and letters from the Rudong postal branch stopped at the square in front of the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal.

"We no longer need to go outside the island to get mail. The Rudong post branch has really made it  practical for enterprises and staff on the island," said Xia Shenyong, who works at the terminal.

According to the Rudong postal branch, plans are to deliver mail every morning and receive mail in the afternoon. The first post station on the island will be completed by the end of September.
