The LNG tanker Shaolin docked at the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal in the Yangkou port in Rudong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Dec 1.

This was the eighth LNG tanker received by the facility this winter.

With a length of 295 meters and a width of 45 meters, Shaolin is one of the first LNG tankers made by PetroChina Co Ltd.

The 138,000 metric tons of liquefied natural gas Shaolin unloaded can power all households in Jiangsu province for three days.

Miao Xiochen, the vice-general manager of the PetroChina Jiangsu Co Ltd, said that the demand for natural gas in the Yangtze Delta region has been growing rapidly due to the onset of the cold weather. As such, the terminal has since November been operating at a full capacity, supplying nearly one billion cubic meters – a record high for this time of the year - to households across the province.

The terminal has so far supplied over eight billion cubic meters of natural gas, accounting for more than one third of Jiangsu's total demand.
