The PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal, located at Yangkou Port in Rudong county, Nantong, received its 33rd liquefied natural gas vessel of the year from Qatar on June 22. This was the first Qatari LNG ship to berth at the terminal since PetroChina and QatarEnergy signed a cooperation agreement for Qatar's North Field expansion project.

The vessel, built in 2005, was making its maiden voyage to Jiangsu carrying 138,000 cubic meters of LNG. "The ship departed from Qatar on June 7 and arrived at Yangkou Port after a 15-day journey," said Miao Xiaochen, deputy general manager and safety director of PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Co Ltd.

Qatar is the world's largest LNG exporter, and the North Field is the largest single gas field globally. Qatar has played a crucial role in energy supply to the Yangtze River Delta region in recent years, with its supply accounting for nearly 30 percent of the total last year.

PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal handles natural gas shipments from 25 countries along the Belt and Road, including Qatar and Russia. Gas from these countries accounts for about 70 percent of the terminal's total throughput.

Last year, the terminal's import of natural gas exceeded 10 billion cubic meters for the first time. The terminal is currently preparing to commence its fourth-phase project, which includes the construction of a 200,000-cubic-meter LNG storage tank. Once completed, the terminal's natural gas supply capacity will increase by 30 percent, and its unloading capacity will be tens of millions of tons.
