New railway station to open in Nanyang

The new railway station in the city of Nanyang will begin operating on Dec 26, according to reports from Nanyang Evening News.

Covering a total area of 20,899 square meters, the new Nanyang Railway Station is built in an ancient architectural style and is capable of hosting 3,000 passengers at once.

The first floor of the station consists of an entrance hall, passenger waiting rooms, passenger service room, ticket office and VIP lounges. The second floor includes more passenger waiting rooms, VIP waiting rooms on both sides and a passenger service center.

The station cost a total of 356 million yuan ($51.7 million). Its three platforms are all designed according to the standards of high-speed railway stations, with the height of the platforms being 125 centimeters, 90 centimeters higher than that of the old platforms. The doors of the trains will be level with the platforms, making it easier to get on and off.

Three ticket machines and one real-name verification machine for public security use have been deployed at the ticketing hall of the station. Other features include display screens at the ticketing windows, 10 escalators, an 8.2-meter-wide underground exit tunnel and an 11.2–meter-wide entrance overpass.
