A ceremony was held on August 16 to unveil models of ancient astronomical observation spheres displayed in Nanyang Science and Technology Museum and Zhangheng Museum, attracting many citizens.

Armillary spheres, celestial globes, abridged armillas, and equatorial armillary spheres were the earliest results of research scholars in ancient China. The authentic ancient spheres are on display at Beijing Planetarium and Nanjing Planetarium.

The "Historic Sky - Ancient Astronomical Sphere Model Exhibition" was launched on August 16. The exhibition is co-hosted by the Nanyang Science and Technology Association and the Nanyang Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau.

In the exhibition area, volunteer commentators explained the role played by ancient astronomical spheres in Chinese history.

Though the ancient scientists lacked research instruments and scientific principles, they still made efforts to explore space hundreds of years ago. The visitors were moved by the spirit and wisdom of the ancients.

This exhibition provides a rare opportunity for Nanyang people to learn ancient science and technology, and it is a platform for popularizing ancient science. It is expected that the exhibition will stimulate the public and young students' interest in exploring science and inspire their innovative consciousness and ability.
