The Spring Festival holiday is not over yet, and the workers of Wenjingyuan Technology Co., Ltd. in Gaomiao town, Wancheng district, Nanyang city are already watering, fertilizing and removing weeds.

Jing Xuning, the person in charge of the park, said that they will plant 30,000 mu of wheat this year, expecting an estimated yield of more than 500 kilograms per mu. In the next step, high-standard farmland demonstrations, water-saving intelligent irrigation and precise fertilization will also be realized to achieve high yields.

So that farmers will no longer have to "rely on the sky for food", the district is implementing high-standard farmland construction, focusing on solving the problems of irrigation and drainage, carrying out land leveling, dredging ditches, and supporting wells and widening and hardening field roads to improve farmland.

So far, 610,000 mu of the district's farmland has been improved to high standards. In 2020, its wheat harvest area of 540,000 mu had a total output of 250 million kg, and its autumn grain planting area of 461,000 mu is expected to have a total output of 243 million kg. 

In addition, the 162 administrative villages in the district have achieved full coverage of agricultural technology services and increased promotion of improved varieties and key technologies to a popularization rate of improved varieties in the entire district of more than 90% in 2020.

Prevention and control of wheat and corn diseases and insect pests was applied to 6.186 million mu, and mechanized agriculture was promoted and widely used.
