According to the 2021 city-wide TCM work conference held on April 16 Nanyang will give full play to its advantages in TCM resources, with a "one district (national Chinese medicine comprehensive reform pilot zone), one city (creating a national basic Chinese medicine Work model city) and "One City (Zhang Zhongjing Healthy City)" to be built as carriers of high-quality integrated development of the Chinese medicine industry.

Nanyang, as one of the 14 national TCM comprehensive reform pilot areas, will implement three major TCM projects this year to create important support for TCM education, culture, and medical services: it will rebuild the Zhang Zhongjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, complete the culture project of the Zhang Zhongjing temple and construct the new version of the city's traditional Chinese medicine hospital.

The new site of Zhang Zhongjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is in the Nanyang City's Urban-Rural Integration Demonstration Zone. It covers an area of 3,000 acres, and the first phase is 1,000 acres. It is planned to start construction this year and enroll students next year.

At the same time, the Nanyang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government decided to implement the "Four-in-One" project of Zhang Zhongjing Chinese Medical University, relying on Zhang Zhongjing Chinese Medical University to plan the establishment of Nanyang Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute, accelerate the construction of the new hospital of the city’s Chinese Medicine Hospital, which will start construction in the first half of this year and will serve as Zhang Zhongjing Affiliated Hospital of Chinese Medical University.

With the Zhang Zhongjing Temple as the core, the city will build the Zhang Zhongjing Museum to create a global Chinese "Medical Saint" venue and a world Chinese medicine cultural landmark that integrates cultural relic protection, classic collection, cultural exhibitions, academic exchanges, Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment, research experience, sightseeing and tourism.

In addition, Nanyang will select the best to support the construction of two county-level tertiary Chinese medicine hospitals. Township health centers and community health service centers should achieve full coverage of the construction of Chinese medicine centers, and at least 30 percent of them must be built as "Nanyang Demonstration Chinese Medicine Centers."

At the same time, more village clinics (offices) for Chinese medicine service demonstration will be built this year.

This year, the city will build another two to three provincial-level key specialties of traditional Chinese medicine, and three to five municipal-level key specialties of traditional Chinese medicine. It will also prepare for the 4th China AI Industry Development Conference, and in the second half of the year will prepare for the 15th Zhang Zhongjing Medical Culture Festival and the 9th Zhongjing Forum.

Zhang Zhongjing Health City plans to implement 13 key projects, with a total investment of 29.9 billion yuan, with investment of 3.9 billion yuan.
