Forgot to bring your social security card when buying medicine at a pharmacy? It's ok! There is an electronic payment certificate for medical insurance.

According to the Nanyang Medical Security Bureau Nanyang began promoting use of electronic payment vouchers for medical insurance on April 26. Sixteen designated hospitals and 951 designated pharmacies have implemented the application in the city.

At those institutions insured people do not need to bring a social security card (medical insurance card) to see a doctor and buy medicine. As long as they have an electronic medical insurance certificate, they can use the medical insurance to pay by swiping a QR code.

E-medical insurance can be activated and bound through multiple channels such as the "National Medical Insurance Service Platform" APP, Alipay, and WeChat. Taking Alipay as an example, the insured person only needs to search for "medical insurance electronic voucher" on the Alipay homepage, and after agreeing to receive and verifying their identification they can put the electronic voucher into the Alipay "card package" with one click.

If it is activated via WeChat, first click "Search" to enter the "My Medical Insurance Certificate" applet, follow the prompts to enter the applet, click "Activate Now", and fill in the "name, ID card, contact number" and other information according to the prompts. After completing the above operations, the mini program will generate a personal "medical insurance QR code" and automatically save it in the WeChat "card package".
