Location: Cixi, a county-level city in Ningbo, is located on the south bank of Hangzhou Bay, 60 kilometers west of downtown Ningbo and 148 kilometers south of Shanghai. 

With the opening of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge in 2008, Cixi has become a pivotal transport hub connecting Ningbo and Shanghai.

Economy： 

Cixi's gross domestic product (GDP) totaled 189.864 billion yuan in 2019, an uptick of 6.2 percent year-on-year, according to official data. 

In 2019, the city's industrial added value was 106.616 billion yuan, an increase of 5.4 percent over the previous year. 

Its online sales reached 58.184 billion yuan, putting it at first place among county-level cities in Zhejiang province, while cross-border e-commerce B2B exports totaled $1.562 billion, up 107.1 percent year-on-year.

The city's per capita disposable income stood at 56,653 yuan in 2019, an increase of 8.7 percent over the previous year. Per capita disposable income among urban residents was 63,964 yuan, up 7.9 percent year-on-year, while the figure for rural residents was 38,081 yuan, an uptick of 9 percent. 

Administrative divisions: 

Yuyao governs five sub-districts—Hushan sub-street, Gutang sub-street, Baishalu sub-street, Zonghan sub-street, and Kandun sub-street – and 14 towns – Longshan town, Zhangqi town, Guanhaiwei town, Fuhai town, Qiaotou town, Kuangyan town, Xiaolin town, Xinpu town, Shengshan town, Henghe town, Chongshou town, Andong town, Changhe town and Zhouxiang town.

Honors:

In April 2015, Cixi was selected as a national pilot area for the comprehensive reform of small and medium-sized cities. 

In June 2017, the city was named a national sanitation city. 

In 2019, it ranked among the top 100 counties in China in terms of business environment and among the top 10 counties in terms of comprehensive economic competitiveness. 

In December that same year, it was selected as a national pilot area for the promotion of high-quality farmers' cooperatives.
