The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Cross-Sea Passage, a globally renowned super engineering project, has recently commenced trial operations.

This remarkable infrastructure utilizes advanced technologies and materials developed by Ningbo-based Roaby Group.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Cross-Sea Passage, or "Shenzhong Passage," is the world's first comprehensive sea-crossing project integrating a bridge, island, tunnel, and underwater interchange.

Spanning approximately 24 kilometers, the project's highlight is the Zhongshan Bridge. This double-tower cable-stayed bridge stretches 1,170 meters, with a main span of 580 meters and towers reaching a height of 213.5 meters, equivalent to a 70-story building. Designed for a speed of 100 km/h, it features an eight-lane highway with a Class I load rating.

Roaby Group's RBQF1600 modular multi-directional comb plate bridge expansion joints are installed at both ends of the Zhongshan Bridge, accommodating movements of up to 1,600 millimeters. The joints protect the bridge by managing various directional movements caused by external factors.

First trialed in 2002, Roaby's RB modular multi-directional bridge expansion joints have since been employed in numerous world-class projects, including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Nansha Bridge, Wufengshan Rail-cum-Road Bridge, and Mozambique's Maputo Bridge.
