Ningbo's photography exhibition enchants Canadian visitors

A photography exhibition showcasing the rich history and cityscape of Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province was recently launched in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, during the 2024 Chinese Cultural Heritage Festival and Vancouver Water Splashing Festival, captivating local audiences.

Organized by the Canadian Community Service Association, the festival featured a diverse array of performances including music, dance, opera, qipao fashion shows, martial arts, and more, highlighting multiculturalism. The photo exhibition, the sole photography display on-site, vividly portrayed Ningbo's cultural heritage and developmental achievements, fostering cultural exchange between nations.

James Wang, acting mayor of Burnaby, praised the exhibition for promoting cultural dialogue and enhancing the festival's vibrancy. He warmly welcomed future cultural exchanges between Ningbo and Canada, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cultural ties.

Niu Hua, president of the Canadian Community Service Association, expressed anticipation for future collaborations, aiming to deepen cultural understanding and promote harmony among diverse communities.

Yang Shu, consul general of China in Vancouver, emphasized the exhibition's role in bridging cultural gaps and promoting traditional Chinese culture. He encouraged continued efforts to showcase China's cultural diversity and foster cross-cultural communication.

Joe Keithley, a Councillor of Burnaby, said that the exhibition brought Ningbo's essence to Canada through photography, facilitating cultural understanding across diverse backgrounds.

Local residents actively engaged with the exhibition, capturing moments and sharing them on social media platforms. Some even embarked on virtual tours of Ningbo through QR codes, fostering a digital connection.

Following their display at the festival, the photographs will be showcased at Ningbo-affiliated businesses across Canada.
